SAN DIEGO — Popular online clothing retailers TEMU and SHEIN have increased prices on many items starting April 25, citing recent changes in global trade rules and tariffs imposed by the Trump administration. The price hikes come just a week after both companies warned customers about potential increases.

Temu, a Chinese retail app, is passing on nearly all of Donald Trump's new import taxes to US consumers, more than doubling the cost of some products. The app is requiring customers to pay levies on top of the original cost of goods, with taxes exceeding the value of the product in some cases.

Temu has implemented an "import charge" for some products sold to customers in the U.S. amid President Donald Trump's tariff on goods shipped from China and an executive order to end a loophole on low-value imports.
